“ Before this, no one has helped me. If it wasn’t for YCK, I would not have any assistance for my business and my children wouldn’t have had the opportunity to attend tuition and extra classes. The Foundation did not only assist me financially but social workers also gave me a lot of advice and emotional support. Thank you very much to YCK and team.”
Pn Hawa is a single mother who lives in a small room in Jalan Ipoh. She has been an independent person, works on meeting her daily ends meet through sales of packed food prepared by herself in a stall set up at a side walk. She has 2 children, Muhammad Jeffrey, 13 and Muhammad Yassin aged 12. She raised both boys single-handedly since her husband disappeared from the family scene
with no trace many years ago.
According to Pn Hawa, her model cost for food preparation per day comes to RM 80 and she usually earns around RM 100 per day. Her take home profits only come to RM 20 per day. This profits are used to feed both children and herself and it also takes care of their simple daily needs. YCK Social workers assisted by giving her RM 400.00 to ease her burden on her cost of food items needed for preparation of her cooked food. We also promote her food and cater from her whenever the centre has events
to enable to empower and encourage higher profits.
YCK Social workers works on helping her and her family financially. Pn Hawa could not afford school fees, thus we help cover school fees for her eldest son, Muhammad Yassin costing to RM 230.00. Yassin is sitting for UPSR this year so we also covers tuition fees for him to attain extra lessons on weekends.
Despite coming from a challenged background, Yassin managed to achieve 2A’s and 3B’s in his UPSR examination. With his good results, Social workers applies for a education scholarship with ‘Yayasan Peneraju’. Yassin was successfully granted the scholarship and will be attending a fully funded secondary school next year onwards. Yasin was one of the very few in Malaysia who was granted this scholarship.
For his mother, the future is painted brighter.
